Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL

What is Postforbid?

Postforbid is a virtual market place for buyers and sellers of all types of services. From computer work to auto repair, to legal and medical services, to insurance and consulting. All fields, all services, as long as it is legal and with good community acceptance.

It is for locals to do business with each other, as well as worldwide. This is a bulletin board type service where buyers "make the sellers come to them". Buyers post a job or project they want done, and the service providers bid on it. There is never a fee charged sellers for this service. Buyers pay 7% (minimum of $10), of the final bid that they accept when they select a service provider to do the job. Buyers can select who they want to bid, by looking them up and selecting the ones with the best rating. Buyers can rate the service provider. This way, when service providers have ratings, it will be safer for you to hire them based on their good references. It's a lot less time consuming and cheaper too. Please bookmark this page, and remember...When you have jobs to be done, think POSTFORBID !

How much will this service cost me?

It is always free to join and use by everyone. When the buyer posts a job, and thereafter accepts a bidder, then the buyer pays Postforbid 7% (minimum of $10) of the accepted bid price. That's it, no other fees. Any increase in job prices agreed upon with the seller, simply gets posted and paid. We have a simple process of going to the job, adding the extra bid amount, accepting the seller, and generating a 7% (minimum of $10) charge to the added bid amount.

How do I sign up?

On the main page, click on the words "Get Registered" in the box on the left hand side. It will open a window titled "Online Project Auctioning System". Please fill out and select a username and password that in no way will allow someone to identify who you are. For ex: Do not use your name, company name, email address, phone number, or other identifier. This masking of identity at this stage is critical. It helps insure that we get paid. Violators will be removed from the system.

Carefully read the terms and conditions and check off that you agree with them. Then click "sign up". You will get a verification code in your email. Please give it a few minutes for processing and delivery.

How do I cancel my account?

Accounts never have to be cancelled since they never incur a charge by being dormant. Postforbid may at its discretion remove accounts for no activity. If that happens, you can always sign back on. You could also delete your information from your account.

What jobs can I list?

This site is for all legal and moral services. Otherwise there is no restriction. Use it for contractor services, legal and accounting, medical services, computer repair and programming, housekeeping. Most anything. Postforbid reserves the right to cancel any listings or service provider services that it deems, at its sole discretion, to be unsuitable for this site.

What if we can't exactly agree on a bid price or the seller needs to see the job first?

Since contact information can't be exchanged until the buyer and seller accept a bid, it is best to accept a temporary bid of approximately what it will cost, so postforbid can close out the job. Pay the fee and receive the contact information. Once you agree on a bid, if it is higher than the temporary bid, you can come back to the project and increase the cost amount. If the job is very expensive ( costing a large commission ), email support and request to pay a smaller amount. This way we can monitor the price, and you won't pay much to have someone inspect the job. But first, use the PCB ( project clarification board ) to discuss as much detail as possible about the job. Be flexible, you should be getting enough of a discount not to worry about a small additional cost if extra work is needed.
